Artisan is a proud sponsor of a series of short films
written and produced by Mohammad Majdzadeh, an award-winning Iranian
Independent Filmmaker. The free screening of these films takes place on Friday,
December 18th from 7 - 9:30 pm at the Columbus Auditorium on 280 South Columbus Drive, Chicago
IL 60603.
We cordially invite you to partake in what will surely be a thought-provoking
evening.
Mohammad's films examine the mostly hidden lives of Iranian
women, teetering on the fringes of Iranian society in modern Tehran. He portrays the conflicts and
contradictions of a society moving towards modernity despite intertwining
forces of tradition, social taboos & stigmas, and a shaky economy.
The director will join the screening for a follow-up
discussion and Q&A session. The event is free but provides a window into a
culture and traditions that will surely leave a lasting impression on those who
attend.
Mohammad will screen three of his films:
Born In What Century! (17 minutes) (Nominated and
selected for Best Director at the Sapporo Film Festival, 2005; Selected in the
Short Film Corner Section of the Cannes Film Festival, 2006)
World War IV (26 minutes) (Awarded Best Independent
Filmmaker at the Golden Lion Film Festival, 2006)
The Lady's Name Is MOM, Too! (32 minutes) (Nominated for Best
Film at the Golden Minbar Film Festival, 2007)
We hope to
see you all there!
