Artisan & AIGA Chicago Support City’s Vibrant Design Community
6/10/2011 1:38 PM By Julia ShiplettAs proud sponsors of AIGA Chicago’s Design Week, Artisan had a wonderful time mixing and mingling with Chicago’s design community during last night’s Annual Members Meeting at Park West. With hundreds of talented creatives and industry leaders in attendance, the evening was an overall celebration of design and collaboration within the city. Below are photos and highlights!

Keynote speaker Liz Danzico, a top design consultant, educator and co-founder of the MFA in Interaction Design Program at the School of Visual Arts, explains the fascinating way communication has evolved over the past centuries. Whether it’s writing in the margins of books or commenting on a friend’s Facebook status, people have always felt the need to express themselves and share it with others. Learn more about Liz’s work at bobulate.com.

Our talent Ezekiel Binion was the lucky recipient of Creative Suite 5.5.

Former AIGA President Marcia Lausen is celebrated for her long-time achievements within the design community, including leading the election design initiative of AIGA Design for Democracy. Learn more about Marcia’s work at Studio/lab.

Our very own Kristin Rupert introduces Artisan to the crowd.

AIGA Design Week in Review
5/21/2010 9:52 AM By Sharon PotschAn inspiring week of design in Chicago is wrapping up ending today with tonight’s “Spotlight on Emerging Talent.” Here are some pictures of two great events that took place this week: AIGA’s Studio Walks and last night’s Annual Members Meeting. Thank you to all of the designers who came out to support one another and take part in these great events. Do you have any stories or photos you’d like to share? Bridget Verdun and Liz Dierbeck have some fun photos from these two evenings– let me know if you have more you’d like to share and I’ll pop them up on the blog!
Rohner Letterpress provided beautiful samples for their studio walk’s swag.
50,000 Feet’s stop at the Studio Walks consisted of a tour of the workplace along with interactive kiosks conducting polls at designer’s work spaces. What a cool, integrated way to interact with the audience. Nice work!

Small Talk: OhNo!Doom
5/20/2010 8:55 AM By Sharon PotschArtisan is a proud sponsor of many AIGA events but my personal favorite events are the AIGA Small Talks. Small Talks give designers the opportunity of seeing other graphic designer’s desks who actually have a job with these amazingly cool agencies. You also get to hear what makes these places tick from the mouth of the creative director. Not a bad way to spend an evening.
Next month’s event on June 15 at OhNo!Doom promises to be great. OhNo!Doom is a collective of local artists. The event starts around 6:30 for mingling with a 7:00 presentation and takes place at OhNoDoom!’s studio at 1800 North Milwaukee. Click here to register and bear in mind that registration goes fast for these special events!
