Client: Caterpillar
Project: MPEX Showroom
Solution: This is the space where the construction company CEO, after seeing breathtaking product demonstrations and receiving VIP treatment throughout the day at the five-star private facilities on site, is "sold" on the potential millions of dollars of Caterpillar machinery they stand ready to purchase. The room showcases the latest technology in the areas of safety, performance and ergonomics. My role was to assist in space layout, develop graphic systems for the various stations, and produce the artwork, which included 13' wallpaper murals, custom display graphics and fabric banners. The MPEX designation refers to "Multi-Purpose Exhibit" which means the product stations can be moved around, altered, or removed as technology changes. When the space was completed, Caterpillar was enormously happy with the final product and another designer and myself received recognition for our work.
Client: EAX Worldwide
Project: Corporate Identity
Solution: This is a freelance Identity project I worked on during/after college. EAX is a global shipping company, tailored to the trade show industry. The goal was to revamp their image with something simple but aggressive. The design is based off of the trade show experience: the company’s abbreviation, “EAX” appears within circular shapes, reminiscent of the spotlights present at conventions; the letters are offset to represent motion (being a delivery company). Artwork was produced for vehicle signage, clothing items and internal docs, i.e. shipping forms, bill of sale, etc. and compiled in a design standards that outlined all of the specifics for usage of the new identity.
Client: (Domestic Airline)
Project: User-Interface Graphics
Solution: These are some freelance illustrations I did in Adobe Illustrator for a major domestic airline in March of 2009 for potential use on automated touchscreen kiosks. The design problem was customers were having difficulty understanding how to perform basic operations (i.e. “scan passport” or “insert boarding pass”) based off the current illustrations. I was asked to develop images that would be understood by the users and streamline the interaction process with the kiosk. I was chosen for the job based off of illustration I had done for this company a few years previous. The kiosks this artwork is designed for is still in development and may be rolled out in 2010.
Client: Caterpillar
Project: Design Standards
Solution: I put together the Caterpillar Facility Graphic Design Standards preceding a turnover of design templates we had used for years for the purposes of re-branding corporate spaces all over the globe for Cat. The environmental signage was centered around corporate business initiatives and/or themes, such as "Making Progress Possible." As we turned the production of these graphics over to their internal design teams, I had to create a standards guide that detailed layout, imagery and font restrictions, including installation practices and size recommendations for a given space in order to ensure consistency as they began to run with the production the artwork. The standards guide was produced in both Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Word. The production of these graphics were successfully turned over to Caterpillar, who continues to use these graphics in facilities around the world.
