Kevin's most recent role-managing blogs during a presidential campaign-was a natural fit for his interest in politics, education in marketing and writing, and natural affinity for social media. Positioned in the midst of the New Media team, Kevin was responsible for increasing public awareness and support of the campaign in general (e.g. enrolling new voters, singing up canvassing volunteers, encouraging citizens to post blog comments and pictures) in 18 states. Even in an atmosphere of frenetic activity and a swift embrace of new technologies, the campaign's office environment was one of intense discipline: "the message" was controlled at all times. For each state blog, Kevin sourced, compiled, edited and formatted news stories, and policed user generated content on a daily basis. He also fed updates to social networking sites, to remind readers about polling hours and voting regulations. Kevin's approach to social media is grounded in what makes sense for the brand, and how to leverage the brand's recognition in the online space.
